JOB OVERVIEW 
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of General Tradesperson

 

Reporting to the Trades Management Supervisor - Maintenance, this position is responsible for performing routine service trades operations, janitorial and custodial work.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES  

  • Carryout excavating, sandblasting, application of protective coatings, rough grinding, and lubrication of equipment, as well as housekeeping and janitorial tasks. 
  • Maintain and repair roads, drainage systems, including snow-removal and ground maintenance.
  • Assist in performing routine tasks involving, erecting, dismantling, reassembling, moving, loading and unloading, and servicing, materials, structures, furniture, buildings, hardware, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Responsibilities are consistent with training and experience for performing basic trades operations.
  • In accordance with prescribed safety procedures and regulations, performs routine service trades duties.
  • Accountable for the health, safety and well-being of self and others, in accordance with procedures and standards.
  • Operates portable, hand- and power-driven tools and equipment.
  • Perform work protection code (WPC) activities up to the level trained.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Grade 10 or equivalent
  • 3+ years of maintenance/janitorial or custodial experience, preferably in an industrial setting
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Valid G driver's license
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions, indoors and outdoors
  • Good judgment, problem-solving skills, and a strong work ethic
  • Experience operating machinery (e.g., Forklift, plow truck)

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
