Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is excited to offer one (1) student opportunity in our Strategic Initiatiatives Department in Courtice, ON.  There is no public transportation available to the Courtice site. This is an eight (8) month student placement commencing in September 2019.


All students applying for student positions at OPG must meet the below eligibility:

  • Enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution.
  • Have a minimum average of 70% cumulative GPA.
  • Returning to full-time studies in the same program following the completion of the work term OR requiring the work term or co-op placement to graduate.



  • Support the implementation of the Strategic Initiative framework to identify, drive, and accelerate strategic initiatives in support of the Darlington Refurbishment project.
  • Assist with leading key strategic initiatives  by providing project management practices to ensure initiatives are completed on time, on budget and with quality.
  • Assist with Kaizen/LEAN and other workshops to drive process improvements.
  • Asist with the management of the OPG-Bruce Power Collaboration program.



  • Minimum completion of 3rd year at a University or College specializing in Business, Engineering or Project Management.



Preference may be given to the candidate who has the following skills and qualifications:

  • Experience leading initiatives and projects.
  • Experience with Kaizen/LEAN and other process improvement techniques.
  • Experience with collecting and analyzing data.
  • Experience with preparing PowerPoint and other presentations and reports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to look for efficiencies and improve processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate and collaborate and lead cross-functional teams.


This job will provide you with the following professional development:

  • Exposure to the Nuclear Industry and Darlington Refurbishment
  • Experience applying Kaizen/LEAN methodology to drive process improvements
  • Experience applying project management principles in the management of initiatives
  • Experience preparing and leading worskhops and presentations with various stakeholders
