JOB OVERVIEW 

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is excited to offer a student opportunity in our Refurbishment Project - Quality Engineering department which is located in Oshawa and Courtice, Ontario.  This is an eight (8) months student placement commencing in September 2019.

 

All students applying for student positions at OPG must meet the below eligibility:

  • Enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution.
  • Have a minimum average of 70% cumulative GPA.
  • Returning to full-time studies in the same program following the completion of the work term OR requiring the work term or co-op placement to graduate.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES   

  • Identifying areas for improvement and the oversight of various initiatives to continuously improve performance (i.e., safety, quality, cost and schedule) related to the Engineering work.
  • Assessing various aspects of engineering work, communicating with various organizations, and maintaining up to date descriptions/schedules related to execution of the engineering initiatives.
  • Other duties to support the organization include collecting data, preparing reports/presentations.

 

EDUCATION 

  • Minimum completion of 3rd year at a University specializing in Engineering.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Preference may be given to the candidate who has the following skills and qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Leadership experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel, Access)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

 

This job will provide you with the following professional development:

  • Use of operational experience to implement current best practices
  • Skills needed to drive individuals to complete their quality initiatives
  • Oversight capabilities (with various groups and management levels)
  • Knowedge of the project pillars i.e., safety, quality, schedule and cost
