JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Director Commercial.
Reporting to the VP Business Development & Commercial Management this position is responsible to utilize their experience to assist with the commercial aspects of major contracts. This role is accountable for developing and obtaining approval for contract strategies associated with nuclear projects, supporting the procurement process and managing the administration of executed contracts, including change management, contract compliance, dispute resolution and contract audit processes. As the Director, you will supervise a team of professionals who are critical in providing support to the Project Directors and Project Managers utilizing contracts in the execution of projects.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Manage supplier/vendor relationship for major contracts.
- Understand client expectations and vendor performance to ensure suppliers meet/exceed customer expectations and contract fulfillment; collaborate with vendors to achieve success.
- Develop and implement contract management strategies within the department. Work to execute the strategy and integrate with department and client groups to ensure process and compliance expectations are met.
- Ensure business processes between OPG and the service providers are effective and efficient.
- Ensure consistent delivery of high quality services through the creation, monitoring and enforcement of contracts and contractual performance objectives. Manage and report on performance of services received from vendors.
- Monitor and ensure the delivery of value-add services provided by the vendor.
- Oversee the vendor relationships in the context of compliance requirements. Manage risk with the vendor, conduct on-going due diligence to comply with governance and contract objectives.
- Ensure departmental alignment with the company’s goals and objectives with clear accountabilities and responsibilities. Promote use of leading practices in development of contract strategies and contract administration
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Law, Science or Business is required
- Master of Business Administration (MBA), or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, is considered an asset.
- Significant experience working with commercial contracts preferably supporting construction, EPC or energy organizations. Experience in contract negotiation, vendor management and dispute management;
- People management experience;
- Demonstrated analytical and creative thinking skills to examine, build and negotiate contracting strategies. Strong problem solving skills to address and overcome current and future challenges;
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills to execute time sensitive deliverables;
- A results-oriented focus is essential, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment and effectively manage multiple deliverables simultaneously;
- A drive to achieve best value for money, meeting business objectives in a high profile, strategic, rapidly evolving and competitive environment while improving the customer experience and upholding OPG’s behaviors and values.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
