Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is excited to offer three (3) student opportunities in our St. Lawrence Power Development Centre in Cornwall, Ontario. This is a four (4) month student placement commencing in late-May 2019.


All students applying for student positions at OPG must meet the below eligibility:

  • Enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution.
  • Have a minimum average of 70% cumulative GPA.
  • Returning to full-time studies in the same program following the completion of the work term OR requiring the work term or co-op placement to graduate.



  • Lead interactive tours with general public and group tours at the Visitor Centre.
  • Assist planning and coordinating special events, conferences and meetings.
  • Assist communication activities (including writing communication plans, media releases, and developing marketing strategies).
  • Assist educational and outreach programs offered at the Visitor Centre.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Minimum completion of 1st year at a University or College specializing in Education, Business, Communication, Public Relations, or Journalism.



Preference may be given to the candidate who has the following skills and qualifications:

  • A valid G2 or higher driver’s license is required for the position.
  • Ability to work every weekend (Saturday and Sunday) is required.
  • Lives within 80km of Cornwall, Ontario.
  • Event planning experience (outside of educational setting).
  • Experience presenting detailed information to an audience in a public setting (outside of educational setting).
  • Community/public relations experience (outside of educational setting).
  • Graphic arts experience (artistic experience and software experience (i.e. Adobe Creative Suite)).
  • Bilingual (French/English).


This job will provide you with the following professional development:

  • Marketing experience
