JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Civil/Structural Engineer.

 

Reporting to the Manager, Engineering, this position is responsible to perform civil design, analysis, and program work.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Provide civil design analysis and oversight into the Darlington New Nuclear Project
  • Support the seismic qualification, aging management and periodic inspection programs
  • Working with the National Building Code of Canada, Ontario Building Code, CSA S16, CSA A23
  • Working with CSA Nuclear Standards including N287, N289, and N291
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary environment, interacting with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies such as the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering (a master’s degree and/or PhD in either discipline would be considered an asset)
  • P. Eng is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a civil or structural engineering role
  • Experience in civil/structural design and analysis
  • Experience working on large scale Infrastructure, Heavy Industrial or Energy projects is considered an asset
  • Experience working with the National Building Code of Canada, Ontario Building Code, CSA S16, CSA A23, etc.
  • Experience working with CSA Nuclear Standards N287, N289, and N291 would be an asset
  • Experience providing contractor design oversight
  • Experience in structural engineering applications and computer programs is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Candidate must be a fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario, or be eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods. Maintaining a high-performance culture and excellence is a core expectation of every member of our leadership team and is rewarded through the established compensation framework.
