JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Technical Engineer/Officer.
Reporting to the Manager, Engineering, this position is responsible for monitoring performance of systems as well as the surveillance, monitoring, and maintaining of maintenance strategies.
Key accountabilities include providing support submissions and assessments to regulators and external governing bodies and providing technical system support for regular plant operations and maintenance

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Prepare calculations, drawings, specifications, and bills of materials for projects;
- Assist operations and maintenance with complex trouble shooting;
- Source and assess spare parts for key systems;
- Gather input from stakeholder departments and agencies to ensure requirements are captured and detailed in the project documents;
- Co-ordinating, facilitating and driving project scoping, planning, execution, and close out;
- Preparation of design and specification requirements;
- Arrange and lead meetings to coordinate the requirements of designers, suppliers, and construction and stakeholder groups;
- Prepare and coordinate the preparation of all information pertinent to an assigned project and alternatives to be considered for input into planning;
- Perform regular field walk downs in standard and radiological work areas to ensure contractors are compliant with OPG and Occupational Health and Safety Act safety and quality standards;
- Evaluate vendor proposals and make recommendation for contract award that provides the best value to OPG;
- Maintain communication with internal and external stakeholders, regulatory bodies and agencies, and cooperate in exchange of relevant information as required to meet the project objectives. Arrange and chair meetings involving appropriate stakeholders with a given project. Guide and direct discussions involving internal staff, contractors, manufacturers, suppliers and the like, in an effort to efficiently and effectively meet project objectives. Coordinate the preparation of project turnover documentation and ensure completeness. Document and address outstanding project deficiencies.
- Receive assignments from Supervisor as well as identify potential problems and opportunities in assigned areas and/or systems in the facility. Assess, evaluate and recommend solutions to the problems.
- Perform other duties as required.
EDUCATION
- 4-year university degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Nuclear, or other relevant discipline
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation is an asset
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience within engineering; specifically developing design or system requirements, managing projects, trouble shooting, and analysis.
- Prior experience in managing conflicting priorities of scope, schedule, cost and quality.
- Sound knowledge and familiarity with equipment and processes in generating stations or similar heavy industries - prior experience in a Nuclear Engineering environment is an asset;
- Experience and strength in understanding, executing and following governance and procedures with a questioning and analytical attitude/approach under minimum required supervision;
- Excellent problem solving abilities and the ability provide guidance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations;
- Demonstrated experience interfacing and directing vendors;
- Exposure / Understanding of OPG’s ECC Process (Engineering Change Control) is an asset;
- Experience and ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups in order to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements;
- Proven track record on delivering results.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
