(OPG) is excited to offer two (2) student opportunities in our Radiation Protection Department – Darlington Nuclear in Bowmanville, Ontario.  This is an eight (8) months student placement commencing in September, 2019.

All students applying for student positions at OPG must meet the below eligibility:

  • Enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution.
  • Have a minimum average of 70% cumulative GPA.
  • Returning to full-time studies in the same program following the completion of the work term OR requiring the work term or co-op placement to graduate.



  • Assist in software support and development for dose monitoring and reduction
  • Manage and organize technical databases
  • Review Refurbishment Project dose and analyze for trends and issues
  • Assist with the management, implementation, operation and improvement of the radiation instrument program
  • Assist Health Physicists with data collection and analysis
  • Assist Health Physicists with report writing
  • Work with field technicians supporting the Programs, ALARA and Field sections.
  • Interface with our Vendor Partners and assisting them with RP Programs and ALARA matters



  • Minimum completion of 2nd year at a University specializing in Medical or Health Physics.



Preference may be given to the candidate who has the following skills and qualifications:

  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite of software, particularly MS Access.
  • Willingness and capability to learn and use other software.


This job will provide you with the following professional development:

  • Operational Health Physics Role in a Nuclear Plant.
  • Gain technical understanding on how a CANDU station work
  • Gain experience in implementing Health Physics skills in an industrial environment
  • Enhance organizational and managerial skills
  • Enhance teamwork and communication skills
