JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Project Leader.
The Project Leader will play a crucial role in the Fuel Handling Engineering team. The Project Leader will lead and administer the organization, coordination and execution of capital projects within fuel handling systems, overseeing and coordinating various aspects of project execution to ensure successful delivery. The Project Leader will lead matrix project execution teams and will coordinate and be responsible for project documentation, ensuring appropriate Project Management and Contract Management governance is followed. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensure work is executed safely, on time, and on budget, prioritizing safety in all activities.
- Lead and administer the organization, coordination and execution of capital projects within fuel handling systems.
- Work with the Reactivity Management Plan (RMP) and scheduling work around RMP constraints and milestones, showing flexibility to adapt to changes in scope or timing to support overall plant priorities and responsiveness to RMP-driven adjustments to help ensure alignment with operational goals and safety requirements
- Lead matrix project execution teams and oversee project organization and coordination. Overseeing and coordinating various aspects of project execution to ensure successful delivery.
- The role includes planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget.
- Co-ordinate the preparation of specifications, bid packages, tender evaluations, and purchasing recommendations. Arrange and lead meetings to align requirements and progress with designers, suppliers, construction, and operations.
- Ensure proper project documentation and adherence to Project Management and Contract Management governance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, set clear expectations, drive accountability, and promote a team-oriented environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4-year University Degree, Engineering, Science or Business; plus completion of post-secondary courses in project management and business economics as it relates to project and asset management or by having the equivalent level of education.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in industrial project management, specifically, in developing project requirements and plans; preparing cost estimates; participating in contract bidding and award processes, managing projects in execution phase, and managing project closeout.
- Project Management Institute (PMI) certification is considered an asset and Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation is considered an asset.
- Ideal candidates will have worked in a Nuclear Engineering environment (asset). Experience with Fuel Handling systems and the Reactivity Management Plan (RMP) including scheduling work around RMP constraints and milestones are further assets.
- Prior experience in managing conflicting priorities of scope, schedule, cost and quality. Excellent problem solving abilities and the ability provide guidance.
- Experience and knowledge of cost accounting and forecasting as it relates to project management.
- Experience in managing projects of increasing complexity is considered a necessary requirement; project complexity would normally be defined by multiple-contract, multiple stakeholder projects with schedule constraints.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment. Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills and highly developed organizational skills.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
