JOB OVERVIEW 

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Project Leader. Reporting to the Section Manager of Projects, this position is responsible to lead and administer the organization, coordination and execution of assigned project(s) within multidiscipline project portfolios. Lead matrix project execution teams. Coordinate and be responsible for project documentation. Ensure appropriate Project Management and Contract Management governance is followed.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES  

  • Lead and oversee all phases of project management, ensuring compliance with governance and best practices from initiation to closeout.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, cost, risk, and change control while maintaining safety, quality, and budget targets.
  • Prepare business cases, project charters, and approval documentation, collaborating with stakeholders to align project requirements.
  • Coordinate design, procurement, and construction activities, ensuring smooth execution through clear communication and issue resolution.
  • Monitor project progress, provide status reports, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure contract management, stakeholder engagement, and adherence to internal and external approvals.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Relevant 4-year University degree or 3-4 year college diploma. Other PMI related certifications – CAPM, RMP, etc. Other AACE Related certifications – CCP, PSP, CEP etc. Other internationally attained certification that is Canadian equivalent (PRINCE2).
  • Completion of post-secondary courses in project management and business economics as it relates to project and asset management are an asset
  • PMP certification is considered an asset.
  • A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Experience in managing projects of increasing complexity is considered a necessary requirement. Project complexity would normally be defined by multiple-contract, multiple stakeholder projects with schedule constraints.
  • Project management, specifically, experience in developing project requirements and plans, preparing cost estimate, participating in request for proposal and contract building and award processess, managing projects in execution phase, and managing project closeout.
  • Nuclear industry background is an asset.
  • Managing conflicting priorities of scope, schedule, cost and quality.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods. Maintaining a high-performance culture and excellence is a core expectation of every member of our leadership team and is rewarded through the established compensation framework.
