Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for results driven, Nuclear professionals to join our team as Temporary - Contract Coordinators.


OPG and its’ vendors are deploying advanced automated tooling to remove and replace reactor components to meet the stringent nuclear standards for construction at our Darling Nuclear Generating Station located in Bowmanville, ON.


This role serves as the D2011 Outage Oversight Co-ordinators. Providing specialized oversight in this field, the successful Contract Coordinator possesses detailed technical experience with performing maintenance on mechanical and electrical components in a nuclear environment. In addition, field experience in an industrial/mechanical/construction environment, combined with strong leadership and communication skills is an asset.




  • Make effective recommendations to the Manager on the feasibility of performing the work using Company staff
  • Provide oversight to contractors performing work in the plant including attending contractor pre-job briefings, work coordination meetings, observations of work etc.
  • Review Comprehensive Work Packages (CWP’s) to ensure drawings, work plans and all other paperwork is in order
  • Review documents for technical accuracy, recommending changes as necessary. 
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal and external groups such as trades staff, planning staff, engineers, contractors, operators, to provide oversight. 
  • Ensure that electrical, civil, operational, mechanical, financial treatment, and unique project features are considered, discussed, and meet specifications.  All aspects of the project must be compatible including schedules and budgets for the various phases of the work program.
  • Perform oversight of contractors and consultants to ensure quality of work performed, adherence to work schedule, and conformance with standards, policies, legal requirements, codes, policies, regulations, and specifications. 
  • Monitor the status of all assigned projects including inspection of installation, and participate in or witness commissioning of work. 
  • Ensure that the quality of work meets specifications and comply with the contract.  Prepare written reports to document observations, findings, work details and completion dates.
  • Prepare reports after conducting inspections of in-service systems, to monitor their operations after project completion. 




  • Technical Degree / Diploma / Certification /  Trade



  • Technical degree or diploma or a journeyman certification is required;
  • Nuclear power generation / maintenance/construction experience is an asset;
  • Field experience in a nuclear plant, technical services, construction, industrial, or manufacturing environment is an asset;
  • Extensive knowledge of OH&SA (Occupational Health & Safety Act);
  • Working knowledge of CANDU reactor components is an asset;
  • Knowledge of pressure boundary quality assurance programs is an asset;
  • Understanding of foreign material prevention and management is an asset;
  • Understanding of confined spaces and entry requirements for confined spaces is an asset;
  • Preference given to personnel with experience in a contract oversight role;
  • Requires detailed technical knowledge of computer applications, mathematics, contracts and specifications;
  • Experience and familiarity with Nuclear facility safety procedures and practices, including radiation and personal protective equipment is an asset;
  • Required to work shift on a regular basis including weekends and nights;
  • Strong communications skills, both written and oral, ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders and prepare reports;
