Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is excited to offer two (2) student opportunities in our Component and Equipment in Bowmanville, Ontario. This is a 4 or 8 months student placement commencing in September 2019.


All students applying for student positions at OPG must meet the below eligibility:

  • Enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution.
  • Have a minimum average of 70% cumulative GPA.
  • Returning to full-time studies in the same program following the completion of the work term OR requiring the work term or co-op placement to graduate.



  • Support Air Operated, Motorized, Pressure Relieve and Check Valves Program Engineers.
  • Support the Pressure Vessel Certification program.
  • Support Engineers on various Program Engineering funtions ( Pumps, Motors, PdM, HX) as required.
  • Assisst engineers with review of design documentation to support valves projects.
  • Support, maintain and update valves program databases.
  • Support, maintain and update Component Program Dashboards.
  • Support Pressure Boundary Program Specialists.



  • Minimum completion of 3rd year at a University specializing in Mechanical Engineering.



Preference may be given to the candidate who has the following skills and qualifications:

  • Available for an 8 months work term
  • A G2 or higher driver's license
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Leadership experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel, Access, Visio and Project)
  • Proficiency with PowerBI
  • Ability to be self-motivated with good time management
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

This job will provide you with the following professional development:


  • Opportunity to work and support valves maintenance programs.
  • Opportunity to learn about air operated, motorized, pressure reliev and check valves.
  • Opportunity to learn Pressure Boundary codes and standards. 
  • Support valves troubleshooting in a nuclear power plant.
  • Support the team in areas of engineering, field execution and projects.
  • Introduction to Motors, Pumps.
  • N285.5, N285,4  (Pressure Vessels).
