JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our Quality Engineering & Strategy team in the role of Technical Engineer/Officer located in Ajax, Ontario.
 
Quality Engineering & Strategy team is responsible for oversight of OPG engineering (more than 1200 employees).  Managing OPG Research & Development and Industrial Memberships for both Nuclear and Renewable Generation, Nuclear Engineering Risks and Engineering Program key performance indicators reported to the Chief Executive Engineer / Chief Nuclear Engineer. The Technical Engineer/Officer will have the opportunity to contribute by driving performance improvement initiatives and streamlining processes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES  

  • Develop performance improvement strategies for OPG engineering;
  • Support continuous organization improvement by automating metrics, streamlining processes, and driving performance;
  • Proactively identifying areas of improvement and implementing initiatives working with diverse groups and levels of Management throughout OPG, while successfully managing a variety of challenges;
  • Maintaining written documented processes to reflect improved operating methods;
  • Arrange and lead meetings to coordinate the requirements of engineering and OPG internal stakeholder groups.

 

EDUCATION

  • University Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Applied Science
  • Candidate must be a fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario, or be eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ideal candidates will have familiarity with various aspects of OPG Engineering;
  • Knowledge of OPG’s unique systems including Asset Suite, ePMX / Resolver, SCR Database, OCRSA, etc.;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence others;
  • Experience and ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups in order to facilitate objectives and ensure deliverables satisfy stakeholder requirements;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations;
  • Have a strong interest in challenging work environments where showing initiative and self motivation are assets;
  • Proven track record on delivering results;
  • Strong in understanding, executing and following governance and procedures with a questioning and analytical attitude/approach under minimum required supervision;
  • Knowledge of OPG’s ECC Process (Engineering Change Control) is an asset.
